Founded in 1993, Potomac Tutors is a center based tutoring company serving the needs of students in Montgomery County. We offer two primary services: Academic Year One-to-One Tutoring Most students who come to us for one-to-one tutoring are middle and high school students, but we also have some tutors who work specifically with younger students (grades 2-5). We work closely with students to help them understand both their class coursework and their homework assignments, as well as prepare them for upcoming quizzes and exams. In addition, we help student prepare for standardized tests. It is our hope that as the students gain understanding of their course material, they will also gain confidence in their own knowledge. During the summer months, we work with clients Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The work we do is varied -- we strengthen known weaknesses, prepare students for standardized tests and help others get a jump on the upcoming school year. Assisting with summer assignments (Math and English) is also a popular service during the summer months. We offer Exam Review Classes two weekends in both January and June to middle and high school students. These classes are designed to help students prepare for the semester and final exams during the academic year. We offer them in four-hour and six-hour blocks, depending on subject. We also offer support services for those who are home schooling. We have a highly qualified tutoring staff. Our tutors are required to have, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree, and pass a number of competency exams based on the Montgomery County curricula. Most of our staff have extensive tutoring experience, and all of our staff works well with students. We invite you to try our services.
